Early during the afternoon of July 28, cyclists reported seeing a bear and two cubs feeding in the huckleberry patches by Old Goat trail, Mt. Fernie Provincial Park.

WildSafeBC would like to remind everyone to be prepared and expect to encounter bears in berry patches.

“The safest wildlife encounter is one prevented,” read their report.

Residents can prepare to avoid wildlife encounters at home; lock up garbage between collection days, clean up fruit trees, secure BBQ’s and bring in bird feeders.
