It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing on Danette Marlene Shane Salter who died Monday, November 8, 2010 at the age of 45 years.
Danette is survived by her sons David and Matthew Salter and their father Carl, her mother Suzanne Meyer, her brother Greg Forbes with his son Damian, her sister Elizabeth Forbes with daughters Jenna and Jordan, and her grandmother Gywn Hale. Also left to mourn her passing, her mother-in-law Alma Salter, her brother-in-law Darald (Cindy) Salter, 3 aunts: Paula Wykoff, Linda Fleming (Raymond Fisher) with sons Michael and Ronald, Judy (Lyle) Kegg and 2 uncles: Kenneth (Donna) Meyer and Bill (Rosanne) Hale as well as many wonderful friends and co-workers. She was predeceased by her father David Meyer, grandparents Arno and Thelma Meyer, and her grandfather Thomas Hale.
Danette was born on February 19, 1965 in San Jose, California. Following her high school graduation in 1983, Danette obtained her Business Degree at the San Diego University. In 1987 she immigrated to Canada, and in 1988 married Carl Salter, a union blessed with two children.
Both a Ski Instructor and Ski Coach since 1988, Danette was a well respected and recognized fixture at the Fernie Alpine Resort. An avid outdoor enthusiast, Danette enjoyed a multitude of activities that included windsurfing, scuba diving, biking and hiking.
In charge of sales and marketing for River City Woodworks, Danette also enjoyed volunteering her time to the World Cup Freestyle Skiing events, the annual Taste of Fernie, and the Trans Rockies Mountain Bike Race.
Danette inspired many of the lives she touched. She will be forever remembered and loved by all who knew her.
The Memorial Service celebrating Danette’s life was held at Cherished Memories “Serenity Chapel” on Monday, November 15th with Jane Clarke officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
