Driver rescued from Elk River after three-way collision

Three motorists were lucky to walk away alive after a serious collision in Fernie on Feb. 22

A transport truck, a fuel tanker and a passenger vehicle collided on Highway 3 near Boardman Rd., in West Fernie around 5:20 a.m.

According to Elk Valley RCMP, the westbound truck crossed the center line and struck an eastbound passenger vehicle and fuel tanker. The passenger vehicle went off the road and plunged into the Elk River, which trapped the driver in deep swift-moving water.
