DURBAN:
Elizabeth “Lenore” Durban
(1924 – 2010)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Lenore” Durban (nee Hoff) of Elkford, British Columbia, beloved wife of the late Bud Durban, passed away peacefully at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre on Monday, August 16, 2010, at the age of 86 years.
Lenore, as most people knew her, was born in Waskatenau, Alberta, on April 12, 1924 to Ada & Chris Hoff. She came from a family of five siblings – Bill, Dunning, Bruce, Day and Keith. Spending time with her family outdoors was some of Lenore’s favorite times growing up.
She met her life partner Terrance Patrick “Bud” Durban, and at the age of 37, Lenore married Bud on August 26, 1961 in Prince George, British Columbia. They celebrated their love with seven children: Lee, Robert, Warren, Terry, Lorriane, Leslie, and Faith.
Elizabeth enjoyed watching sports, especially games that involved the Vancouver Canucks hockey team, or the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. She also enjoyed knitting and playing all types of card games with her family and friends. She loved going camping, especially “motor homing” all over Alberta and British Columbia. Elizabeth had a tender heart for animals and enjoyed the unconditional love that they gave to her. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren but know that she is at peace in God’s presence.
She is survived by her loving children: Lee Jay (Betty) Allen of Midway, BC; Robert Blaine Durban of Penticton, BC; Warren Bradley (Kim) Allen of Yahk, BC; Terry Patrick (Tammy) Durban of Elkford, BC; Lorriane (Ken) Durban of Penticton, BC; Leslie (Dale) Price of Didsbury, AB; and Faith (Allan) Durban of Blairmore, AB; her many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother Keith Hoff; and her sister Day Conn Lloyd, both from Prince George, BC.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Bud Durban; her parents Ada & Chris Hoff; and her brothers: Bill Hoff, Dunning Hoff, and Bruce Hoff; and her sisters-in-law: Ann Hoff, Krissy Hoff, & Nancy Hoff.
A Memorial Service for the late Lenore Durban was held on Friday, August 20, 2010, at 2:00 pm at the Elk Valley Congregational Church (906 Alpine Way, Elkford, BC) with Pastor Kay Bottolfson officiating.
