Firefighters contained a fire in a home in the Tie Lake area on Saturday (March 2) evening.

Nine firefighters from the Jaffray, Baynes Lake and Elko Fire Departments and four pieces of apparatus responded to the call just after 9 pm.

“We received an alarm call from a home on Thistle Road and upon investigating further, found a smoldering fire between two joists in the crawl space of the home,” said Michael Hockley, Chief of the Elk Valley & South Country Rural Fire and Rescue.
