A backcountry skier with a knee injury was rescued from a backcountry cabin last week.

Fernie Search and Rescue was called out at around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, to assist the 24-year-old skier, who was part of a group staying at Thunder Meadows Cabin above Fernie.

The skier had twisted her knee skiing and was unable to continue. Ski guides from Island lake Lodge were able to reach the group and provide first aid to the woman, while Search and Rescue secured the services of Ascent Helicopters to fly the injured party to the Elk Valley Hospital where she was met by the B.C.
