1932-2021 ~ Maria passed away with her family by her side on September 30, 2021 at Elk Valley Hospital. She was born on May 27, 1932, in Spilembergo, Italy.
Maria is survived by her children: Tony (Deborah) Paron, Luciana (Greg) Derkach, and Bruna Paniec; 6 grandchildren: Tara (Jaret) Bogusky, Chad (Brandy) Paron, Nathan Paron, Dustin (Ashley) Derkach, Lance (Stephanie) Derkach, and Amy Paniec, and 8 great grandchildren: Morgan, Erikah & Kendyl Bogusky, Emma & Isabella Paron, Chase & Evelyn Derkach, and Vivian Derkach.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Bruno Paron, parents Vittorio & Olga Berto, her mother-in-law, Maria Paron Sr., her grandson Christopher Paniec, and her son-in- law Mark Paniec.
Maria was well known for her great cooking of Italian food. She loved to knit, crotchet and enjoyed bowling when Sparwood had an alley. Maria was the happiest when her family was around her.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St Michael's Parish (live streamed via Zoom) on Saturday, October 23rd at 1 pm with Father David John officiating.
Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and paramedics in the Sparwood, Fernie, and Cranbrook Hospitals. Moreover, a very special thank you to the Elk Valley Hospital nurses and doctors for their compassion and care for Maria during her last days. We would also like to thank friends and family for all their phone calls, texts, and well wishes during this very difficult time.
