The B.C. Human Rights Tribunal has decided it will hear a case about a customer without a mask who was denied entry to a Nanaimo thrift store during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
In November 2020, Lawrence Forbes attempted to enter the Habitat for Humanity Mid-Vancouver Island store without a mask, claiming a medical exemption; however, he was denied entry. He later filed a human rights complaint against the non-profit.
