DINGREVILLE,
Paul (Smiley) Leon
June 8, 1925 – July 22, 2010
Paul entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2010 at the age of 85 years. He is survived by his wife Olive Dingreville of Sparwood, 5 children: Paulette (Bud) Hutchinson, Brian (Andrea), Robert (Wendy), and Bruce (Shelley) Dingreville and Shari (Ray) Rybachuk, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents Gustave and Gabriel Dingreville and brothers Maurice and Marcel.
Paul was born on the family farm north of Cowley, Alberta. In 1945 he married Olive Weir and served in the Canadian Armed Forces for a year. He later moved his family to Cowley where he worked as a Blacksmith. Eventually Paul and Olive settled in the Crowsnest Pass where he worked for Coleman Colleries as a welder for 17 years until the mine closed in 1980. He then did many jobs after leaving the mine, as a welder, handyman but most of all a “Jack of all trades”, Paul continued to work various welding and handyman jobs and never really did retire, working until he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 83.
The joy in Paul’s life came from his family; they were the center of his world. Paul was nicknamed Smiley because regardless of the situation, he always continued to smile. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Paul was a man who never complained, he simply loved life. He didn’t have hobbies, but the one thing he did love was camping. Every chance Paul and Olive got, they loaded up their trailer and headed out; their most desired camping spot being Lundbreck Falls. Paul always loved the falls, and the two would spend hours walking the campground together.
Paul will be sadly missed by everyone.
