The last standing landmark of Michel, the Michel Hotel, was demolished last week.

The Michel Hotel had been privately owned for some time but Teck Coal purchased the hotel in October 2010.

“There were many years of vandalism and the building was exposed to the weather,” said Nic Milligan, Teck manager of community and government affairs. “It had become a public health concern and was in a derelict condition.”
