The consumer carbon tax has been much in the news, driven there by both the Conservatives and the Liberals. The two parties may as well be speaking two different languages. Their positions on the topic are completely opposed. Who is telling the truth? Well, it’s complicated.

The Liberals and Conservatives both use a 2023 report by the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) to support their positions.
