Steven Alexander Short was a cherished partner, brother, uncle, and great-uncle who once served for the Governor General's Footguards. Notably, he was a talented professional photographer whose work has been featured in National Geographic, Canadian Geographic, and Rolling Stone.
As an author, he penned numerous books about British Columbia's interior and the Canadian Rockies. His love for nature and adventure was appreciated by all those who knew and loved him.
Steve passed away in the Dominican Republic, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robbie and parents Ferguson ("Fergie") and Freeda ("Freddie").
He is survived by his partner, Saïda, and his beloved step-grand-daughter, Valentina. Steve's surviving family members include his sister Joanne Rodgers (Ron MacPherson), nieces Elizabeth Anderson (Darren) and Jennifer Giles (Billy), and nephew Jody Young (Jill). Great-nephew Kevin Anderson and great-nieces Emily Anderson, Brooklyn and Morgan Giles, and Katelyn and Margaret Young will miss him dearly.
Steve is also survived by his aunt, Sheila Bangs of Delta, BC and his uncle, Douglas Thomas (Kate) of Toronto.
Steve was born in Ottawa, Ontario and spent most of his life in British Columbia.
He later found a love for Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, where he was laid to rest.
